About Hardwood Flooring

Rich colors, clean lines, and deep textures are just a few of the characteristics hardwood floors bring to any space. Hardwood flooring enlarges the look of a room by creating seamless, flowing lines that embody elegance and timelessness, all while maintaining a budget friendly cost. Wood floors are resistant to collecting dust, dander and pollen make them an excellent choice for allergy sufferers.

When choosing the right wood for your home, consideration should be on…

  • Color –  The color of hardwood floors ranges from light to dark, with a variety of shades in between. Choosing is often simply a matter of preference and deciding what complements your existing space best.
  • Character –  Naturally present in hardwood, grain variations help determine a wood’s “personality”. Dramatic grain creates a rustic feeling, while moderate grains are associated with a traditional look, and wood with very little grain suggests a more contemporary look.
  • Construction –  Hardwood is divided into two basic categories….solid or engineered. Solid planks are created from a single piece of wood and are extremely durable. While engineered planks are constructed from several layers of wood (with a core of plywood or HDF) and are designed for greater stability with variations of temperature and humidity over solid wood, making them ideal for our Midwest climate. Engineered woods can be made in wider, longer planks than solids which only
come as 5”, making engineered wood extremely popular right now!
